Black History Month

Black History Month is a month set aside to learn, honour, and celebrate the achievements of black men and women throughout history. As October was Black History Month, we spent the time learning about some influential people in history.

In Year 1 the children learned about the contribution of two talented musicians...Scott Joplin and  Stevie Wonder. Here is some of the work proudly displayed by two of our hardworking learners.

In Year 2 the children learned about the contribution of social justice activists Martin Luther King and Harriet Tubman. The children created interesting displays depicting their lives and also delivered a series of informative assemblies on the topic.
